This photo of a breeding pair of common loons was taken at Horsehead Lake, MI. I was able to get incredibly close thanks to my little rubber canoe and the navigation of my partner. It was quite the risk- I fashioned a waterproof seal out of a few 1 gallon plastic bags and a lot of rubber bands.
